Reading the table
A solar eclipse is a new moon precise enough that the Moon covers part or all of the Sun for observers somewhere on Earth; a lunar eclipse is a full moon precise enough that the Moon crosses Earth's shadow. For solar eclipses, the magnitude is the deepest coverage seen anywhere on Earth (1.0 or higher means somewhere sees totality); for lunar, how deep the Moon sits in Earth's umbra — penumbral eclipses are subtle shadings most people never notice. For central solar eclipses the map shows the central path — where totality or annularity is actually seen; a partial solar eclipse has no central path, only a wide region of partial coverage, so it gets no map rather than a pretend one. A total lunar eclipse — a blood moon — is visible from the entire night side of Earth at once.
Astrologers treat eclipses as punctuation on the regular lunar cycle: a solar eclipse as an emphatic new-moon beginning, a lunar eclipse as an emphatic full-moon reveal, in the sign where they land.
