About Cosmic Ascendant

What Cosmic Ascendant Is

Cosmic Ascendant is a scientific astrology platform built by professional astronomers. The founders study the origins, present day, and future of the universe as practicing scientists. They built Cosmic Ascendant to bring real astronomical data and methods to astrological practice.

Custom Astronomical Calculation Engine

Cosmic Ascendant uses a custom-built astronomical calculation engine developed from scratch. Unlike most astrology apps, which license the same few third-party calculation libraries, this engine uses professional-grade JPL DE430 ephemeris data — the same planetary position data used by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory for spacecraft navigation.

The custom engine enables features that are not possible with licensed software, including uncertainty-aware natal charts that quantify how birth time and location precision affect chart accuracy, stability indicators that flag borderline Rising sign placements, and a precision resolution process that guides users through improving their chart's reliability.

Birth Zenith: NASA WISE Satellite Imagery

The Birth Zenith feature generates a personalized image of the sky directly overhead at the moment and location of the user's birth. The imagery comes from NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), a space telescope launched in 2009 that mapped the entire sky in infrared light.

Each birth zenith image is extracted from real satellite data for the user's specific celestial coordinates. The system automatically identifies and catalogs every significant celestial object in the image — stars, galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters — with scientific classifications and astrological interpretations for each. No other astrology platform offers personalized satellite imagery of the user's birth sky.

Big Three Prediction Quiz

The Big Three Quiz predicts a user's Sun, Moon, and Rising signs using personality-based trait analysis — no birth information required. The quiz presents approximately 22 questions that measure behavioral patterns across Sun-axis traits (identity and values), Moon-axis traits (emotions and comfort needs), and Rising-axis traits (social presentation). An interactive zodiac wheel displays real-time probability heatmaps as the user answers.

AI-Personalized Readings

Every reading in Cosmic Ascendant is generated uniquely for the individual user using large language models. This includes natal chart interpretations, daily/weekly/monthly transit readings, birth zenith analyses, and Big Three quiz results. Readings are not pre-written text selected from a database — they are generated from the user's specific chart data and current planetary transits.

Interactive Chart Builder

The chart builder is a 7-stage interactive experience that teaches users how each piece of birth information affects their natal chart. It shows animated uncertainty arcs that narrow as the user provides their birth year, month, day, time, and location. The builder demonstrates why birth time precision matters by visually showing how planetary positions and house boundaries change with different levels of information.

Our Mission

We believe astrology deserves the same rigor and precision that astronomers bring to studying the universe. Most astrology platforms license the same calculation libraries and present the same pre-written interpretations. Cosmic Ascendant's custom engine, satellite imagery, and AI personalization represent a fundamentally different approach — one that treats each user's cosmic profile as genuinely unique.

We invite you to experience scientific astrology that uses real data, real satellite imagery, and computations built on the methods NASA uses to explore the solar system.
