When Saturn in the current sky crosses the same degree as your natal Moon, that is a transit. When Jupiter passes over your Ascendant, that is a transit. Each transit carries specific meaning depending on which transiting planet is involved, which natal point it contacts, and what geometric angle (aspect) it forms.

Transits are ranked by significance. An outer planet (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) transiting a personal planet (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) is more impactful than a fast-moving inner planet passing over a slow-moving outer planet.

Types of Transit Aspects

Not all transits are created equal. The geometric angle between the transiting planet and your natal point determines the nature of the influence:

Conjunction (0 degrees): The transiting planet sits on top of your natal point. This is the most intense transit — it merges the energy of both planets. A Jupiter conjunction to your natal Sun can bring expansion and opportunity. A Saturn conjunction can bring responsibility and restructuring.
Opposition (180 degrees): The transiting planet sits directly across from your natal point. Oppositions create tension and awareness. They often manifest through other people or external circumstances that force you to confront an issue.
Square (90 degrees): Squares are friction aspects. They create pressure to act, change, or resolve conflict. Difficult but often productive.
Trine (120 degrees): Trines are harmonious. They represent natural flow and ease. A trine from Jupiter to your natal Venus can bring social grace and financial ease.
Sextile (60 degrees): Sextiles are mildly positive — opportunities that require some effort to activate.

The speed of the transiting planet determines how long the influence lasts. The Moon transits each natal point in a few hours. Saturn stays within orb for weeks or months. Pluto transits can last years.
